Michael lives in County Cavan and was formerly a Sergeant with the Cavan Monaghan Division, a position which he held for many years.
Michael has been actively involved with both Community Alert and Neighbourhood Watch groups for over 30 years and is a great believer in strengthening the partnership approach between communities and An Garda Síochána. He brings a wealth of recent experience of community-based security to the Board.

James has a background in agriculture and rural and community development, and it is his energy and vision which lies behind the establishment of Property Marking Ireland – an energy which has led to his being an awardee at the 2019 Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Awards.
James has a degree in Rural Development from Tipperary Institute and is passionately committed to the role of voluntary organisations in community-based action.
